Local bee species produce honey that are uniquely by region

This is due to the different type of nectar available in the region.also the different bee species also have different mechanism in producing their honey.  It is very interesting to taste honey produced form Trigona, it has a much soury taste with lower GI and good amount of anti bacteria content and some say it is even more effective the manuka honey!
Apis Cerana is another type of local honey bees, they produce honey closer to the European bee. Sweeter honey and sometime a little sour due to the different type of plant nectar collected. This bee does not produce much Propolis. Unlike European bee, Apis Cerana does not seriously affected by Verroa Mite, hence fumigation with acid is not neccessary. plus all year nectar soruce supply, the honey produced by these bees taste fresher and does not have some unique medicine taste. Generally, honey is good for health and it has been used by mankind thousands of year. When there was a shortage of honey, sugar was used to replace it. Recently it was found that sugar does have a long term effect on health and many people are changing the habit of using natural sweetener.

There are many honey bee species in our region namely Apis Cerana, Apis Andreniformis, Apis Florea, Apis Dorsata and Trigona (Stingless Bee).

Honeys are generally considered as very healthy and natural food that has medicinal properties. I believed that a good honey is not only depending on the type of bees, the environment that the bees are located. There are other factor such as when the honey is harvested, how it is harvested, how it is stored.  Of course I am talking about raw and unprocessed honey.

Most of the people believe that honey can help to boost the immune system as it help to keep our body in alkaline states, alleviates allergic reaction due to the allergent can trigger our system to produce antigen to control the reaction. Increasing metabolism, preventing and treating cold and flu. They are also famous for healing inflammations and infections, fights free radicals and anti-aging, keeping our complexion radiance.  Honey also contained many essential vitamins, mineral and enzyme.  As form Trigona honey it also contain propolis.

How this super powerful substance gets into Trigona Honey? Trigona bees keep their honey and bee pollen in  pots built of cerumen - which is made of beeswax and propolis. It was tested our Trigona honey contained flavonoids one of the key component that result in the
anti-microbial property of this honey.

In order to make sure our honey is of the best quality, we only harvest honey from our own beehives.  From the beekeeping environment, colonies' health, to clean harvesting and bottling facilities are properly control just to ensure the quality of the honey is the best.  Many honey sellers are re-selling honey that they imported from other commercial honey supplier or from some local beekeeper that do not have proper harvesting equipment. For example, our Trigona honey is carefully extracted using our special extraction procedure to prevent any residue or impurity to mix with the honey. With this extracion our Trigona honey are able to store at normal room temperature for a long period of time.  Unlike many Trigona honey that has to store in refrigerator otherwise will turn darker and sour in a very short period of time. Most of this honey are filled with a lot of impurity that will quickly turn bad. If you ever join our workshop, you might get to taste the fresh Trigona honey and understand what is high quality Trigona honey taste like.

In a 2016, one of the Singapore famous institution had conducted research study on our local Trigona Honey versus Manuka honey.  It was found that the local Trigona honey is powerful even when compared to manuka honey. Same type of claim has been made by many other companies and some even claimed that their Trigona honey is better than Manuka honey that the UMF is 25+!

For Nutrinest, we believed all honey are good. In order to have the best quality honey you should get your honey directly from your local beekeeper.  Different season will have different types of honey with different taste, properties and use. Don't focus too much on anti- bacteria  and any claimed medicinal properties.  To me the most important is to get the honey that you like best.  Keeping happy is the best medicine for yourself!
